Hilda Cardona, RN, Director of Affairs in Puerto Rico

Hilda Cardona is a registered nurse who has retired from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). While at the NIH, Hilda spent many years working with some of the first patients that were part of the natural history study as well as those that were a part of the phase II clinical trial of Pirfenidone. Since retiring from the NIH, Hilda has remained active in the HPS community and probably works as many hours now as she ever did when she was a full-time NIH employee. She has worked tirelessly using her vacation time traveling in Puerto Rico to help get the word out about HPS and has worked very hard this past year helping with the opening of the HPS Center at Mayaguez Medical Center
